Depending on your need, we have 3-core and 5-core sheathed wire definitions in a variety of cross-sections often used for residential cabling, such as sheathed wire NYM J 3x1.5, sheathed wire 3x2.5 or sheathed wire 5x1.5.
Using these sheathed wires as building wires makes it possible to easily and quickly connect electric light and socket circuits. They can be laid on, above, in or under render in dry, moist or wet rooms, in brickwork or concrete. The only exception is direct embedding in churned, vibrated or tamped concrete. If the sheathed cable is protected from direct sunlight you can also use it outdoors.
Sheathed wires for outdoor use
The NI2XY building wire has been designed for direct embedding of your electrical wiring installations in churned, vibrated or tamped concrete. This building wire can also be used outdoors, but not underground or in water because it is neither an underground cable nor watertight. You can find this cable online in 3x1.5 or 3x2.5 models.
If you want to lay an electrical wire in or under render in a dry room or in the hollow of a ceiling or wall made from non-flammable materials without plasterboard you can use the NYIF-J ribbon cable. The reason being that the cross-sections of common sheathed wires are too big for these applications.

It has been designed for laying on, above, in and under render in dry, moist or wet rooms, in brickwork or concrete. The only exception is direct embedding in churned, vibrated or tamped concrete. You can also find this cable in Faber’s online shop in CPR performance class B2ca in 3x1.5 or 3x2.5 models.
