Your building wire contact for residential cabling

Are you looking for sheathed wire types for electric installations in your home? Then Faber is the right place for you! We can provide you with powerful, quality-tested sheathed wires by the metre. Depending on your need, we have 3-core and 5-core sheathed wire definitions in a variety of cross-sections often used for residential cabling, such as sheathed wire NYM J 3x1.5, sheathed wire 3x2.5 or sheathed wire 5x1.5.
Using these sheathed wires as building wires makes it possible to easily and quickly connect electric light and socket circuits. They can be laid on, above, in or under render in dry, moist or wet rooms, in brickwork or concrete. The only exception is direct embedding in churned, vibrated or tamped concrete. If the sheathed cable is protected from direct sunlight you can also use it outdoors.

Sheathed wires for outdoor use

The NI2XY building wire has been designed for direct embedding of your electrical wiring installations in churned, vibrated or tamped concrete. This building wire can also be used outdoors, but not underground or in water because it is neither an underground cable nor watertight. You can find this cable online in 3x1.5 or 3x2.5 models.
If you want to lay an electrical wire in or under render in a dry room or in the hollow of a ceiling or wall made from non-flammable materials without plasterboard you can use the NYIF-J ribbon cable. The reason being that the cross-sections of common sheathed wires are too big for these applications.

Sheathed wires for buildings with a high concentration of people and material assets

As one of the top providers in the cable and wire industry, we also have a large product portfolio of sheathed wire sizes for places with a high concentration of people and material assets, enabling you to choose a product perfectly tailored to your need. Faber is your go-to place for building cables!
While the NYM-J/-O sheathed wire has been designed for electrical installations in your home, we recommend the following cables for places with a high concentration of people and material assets: Our zero-halogen sheathed wire NHXMH shows improved behaviour in case of fire. It has been designed for laying on, above, in and under render in dry, moist or wet rooms, in brickwork or concrete. The only exception is direct embedding in churned, vibrated or tamped concrete. You can also find this cable in Faber’s online shop in CPR performance class B2ca in 3x1.5 or 3x2.5 models.

Sheathed building wires meeting any requirement

Are you planning an electrical installation in sensitive environments such as an IT department or a hospital? Then we would recommend our shielded zero-halogen sheathed wire (N)HXMH(St) because it is equipped with a static shield to limit the electro-magnetic fields of electrically charged conductors. The sheathed wire can also be used in residential buildings where sensitivity to electro-magnetic fields is a particular concern. The shielded (N)YM(St)-J sheathed cable has been specifically designed for routing outdoors. However, you need to protect it from direct sunlight. Faber has 3-core and 5-core sheathed wire definitions in a variety of cross-sections, such as sheathed wire 3x1.5 and sheathed wire 3x2.5.
