Structure of the YSLY-JZ control cable
In order to help you find a suitable control cable for your application, here is some useful information on the meaning of YSLY-JZ. This abbreviation, consisting of numbers and letters, is the so-called type abbreviation. Knowing the meaning of each of the components in the abbreviation, will help you understand plenty of basic information about the particular line straightaway.
Let us take the YSLY-JZ as an example: The letter "Y" indicates that the core isolation consists of thermoplastic material (PVC). "SL" means that this cable is a control cable. The second "Y" tells us that both the outer sheath and the core also consist of PVC. The letter combination "JZ" provides information on the type of conductor. In this case, it indicates that the cable has black cores with printed numbers and a green-yellow protective conductor. The type plate can be specified even more precisely by means of further information, for example with YSLY-JZ 3x1.5 or YSLY-JZ 4x1.5. These numbers indicate the number of cores and the cross-section of the conductor.

YSLY type cables are made of a fine-stranded copper braid (conductor), black PVC core isolation, white cores with consecutive printed numbers and – starting from a number of three cores – a green-yellow protective conductor.
The core markings of the YSLY-JZ/-JB/-OZ/-OB control cables explained:
• YSLY-OZ: without green-yellow protective conductor, black cores with printed numbers
• YSLY-JZ: one green-yellow protective conductor, all other cores are black with printed numbers
• YSLY-OB: without green-yellow protective conductor, core colours in accordance with DIN VDE 0293

Universally applicable control cables
YSLY-JZ is one of the most popular cables. They find universal use as measuring, monitoring and control cables, mainly in mechanical and industrial engineering. YSLY-JZ type cables are suitable for indoor installation, in both dry and wet rooms. However, they are not suitable for outdoor use because YSLY-JZ is not UV-resistant. The control cable can therefore only be installed outdoors in protected environments and is not suitable for continuous movement. The special PVC outer sheath is largely resistant to oils and chemicals.
YSLY-JZ, YSLY-JB, YSLY-OZ and YSLY-OB type cables are suitable for a wide range of applications, from low to medium mechanical stress. Among other things, they act as connection cables and junction lines for machine tools, conveyor and assembly lines and control devices. They are used in numerous industrial environments such as heating and air-conditioning technology, conveyor systems in the steel and metallurgical industries as well as data processing systems.
