Properties of N2XCH cables
Our N2XCH high-voltage cables offer the highest quality and safety in accordance with VDE 0276-604. These cables are specifically designed for applications requiring improved fire performance.
N2XCH cables feature a robust copper conductor. From a nominal cross-section of 25 mm² upwards, the conductors are multi-stranded (conductor class 2), whilst smaller cross-sections are single-stranded (conductor class 1). The core insulation consists of high-quality VPE 2XI1.
An additional copper conductor arranged concentrically around the core insulation can be used as a protective conductor (PE) or shield, which increases the flexibility of these cables. The outer sheath of the N2XCH cables is made of halogen-free HM4 polymer and is black. These cables are flame-retardant in accordance with VDE 0482-266-2-4/IEC 60332-3-24 (Cat. C), smoke-free in accordance with DIN EN 61034/IEC 61034 and halogen-free in accordance with DIN EN 50267/IEC 60754.
The rated voltage Uo is 0.6 kV and the rated voltage U is 1 kV, with a maximum voltage in three-phase systems of 1.2 kV and a test voltage of 4 kV. N2XCH cables can be laid in temperature ranges from -5 to +70 degrees Celsius and operated in fixed installations in temperature ranges from -30 to +70 degrees Celsius. The maximum permissible cable temperature is +90 degrees Celsius.
The cores are colour-coded in accordance with VDE 0293. Where there are more than 5 cores, numbers are used for core identification. Various conductor types are available, with the abbreviations explained as follows:
S = sector-shaped conductor
R = round conductor
E = single-strand
M = multi-strand
v = compacted

Installation of N2XCH high-voltage cables
N2XCH high-voltage cables are versatile and specifically designed for installation indoors, in air and in concrete. Direct installation in water or in the ground is generally not possible.
These cables are characterised by improved performance in the event of a fire. As they are halogen-free and flame-retardant, N2XCH cables reduce the risk of fire propagation, high smoke density and toxic fumes in the event of a fire. These properties make them particularly suitable for buildings and facilities with high fire safety requirements, as well as for power distribution in power stations and substations.
For outdoor installation, it is important to take the temperature range into account and ensure UV protection, as the cables are not UV-resistant. N2XCH power cables are specifically designed to operate safely and efficiently under various conditions, provided the correct protective measures are observed.
