NYCY as a PVC underground cable with a fixed installation
NYCY is a low-voltage power cable according to VDE 0276-603 with copper conductor, concentric conductor and PVC sheath. It is suitable for installation in inner areas, outdoors, underground, in water and in concrete and can be installed in a fixed arrangement on cable ladders and cable trays. NYCY cables are used as distribution cables for supplying low-voltage systems and also as control cables in switchgear.
Design of the NYCY cable
NYCY consists of single-core copper wires with PVC insulation, an intermediate sheath, a concentric conductor made from Cu wires and a flame-retardant PVC outer sheath.
The NYCY code explained using NYCY 3x1.5 as an example
What does NYCY mean?
N normed cable Y core insulation made from PVC
C concentric (single-core) conductor made from copper (Cu)
Y outer sheath made from PVC 3x1.5 3 cores with a nominal cross section of 1.5mm²
Characteristics of the power cable NYCY
The cable NYCY has a nominal voltage of 0.6/1kV and is suitable for a maximum voltage of 1.2kV in 3-phase current systems. Its black sheath is flame-retardant according to IEC 60332-1. As a UV-resistant cable, NYCY can also be used as an outdoor cable.
