        In Faber's range of cables, you can find NYY-J cables and NYY-O cables by the metre. The NYY power cables are used as underground cables for power distribution in a wide range of applications. Depending on the application, underground cables are available in different models with one to five cores and a conductor cross-section of 1.5 mm² to 800 mm².

        NYY cable—meaning

        NYY cables are further specified by type abbreviations consisting of letters and numbers. The NYY cable specification provides information on the design and intended use of the cables and wires. "N" indicates that it is a standard cable according to the German VDE 0276-603 standard and "YY" is an abbreviation for PVC core isolation and PVC cable bundle isolation. An NYY-J cable is a low-voltage cable with protective conductor, whereas an NYY-O cable doesn't have a protective conductor. The specification -J or -O is followed by the number of cores and the conductor cross-section in square millimetres. For example, the NYY 5x6 cable has five cores and a cross-section of 6 mm². Furthermore, NYY cables are usually provided with the following abbreviations: RE: round conductor, single-core RM: round conductor, multicore SM: sector shaped conductor, multicore

        NYY cables specially made for underground installation

        NYY cables with a bare copper conductor can be installed indoors, outdoors, underground, in water and in concrete. Thanks to their good isolation, high resistance to environmental influences and long service life, it is possible to install NYY cables directly underground, however, NYY underground cables can also be installed in cable ducts.

        Areas of application of NYY cables

        Flame-retardant and UV-resistant NYY cables can be used as indoor and outdoor cables and can be used as power distribution cables in power plants, industrial plants, switchboards and local networks. NYY-J and NYY-O cables are also used in building installations. NYY cables with a conductor cross-section of 1.5 mm² are suitable for the connection of individual sockets, whereas NYY wires with a cross-section of 2.5 mm² are designed for supplying several sockets and electrical connections. The most common NYY cables and wires are the NYY 5x1.5, NYY 5x2.5, NYY 5x6, NYY 3x1.5, NYY 3x2.5, and others.
