Area of use for J-2Y(St)Y cables

The cable J2Y(St)Y St III BD has been designed for exchanging analog and digital signals of up to 16 Mbps in IT system units, ISDN PBXs, operating data collection, industrial electronics and bus technology. The cores of the telecommunication cable are stranded as a star quad.

Design of J-2Y(St)Y

J-2Y(St)Y ST III BD contains single-core copper wires insulated with polyethylene (PE). The cores have been stranded as a so called star quad, i.e., the two opposite cores of the quad form a pair. A static AI shield is fitted over the stranded quad. Mechanical protection is provided by the PVC outer sheath. Cables of the type J-2Y(St)Y are flame-retardant (according to VDE) and, depending on the type of installation, can withstand temperature ranges between -5°C and 70°C.

What does J-2Y(St)Y ST III BD mean?

Explanation of the wire codes explained using J-2Y(St)Y 4x2x0.6 ST III BD GR as an example:
J—telecommunication installation cable
2Y—core insulation made from polyethylene
(St)—static film shield
Y—PVC sheath
4x2x0.6 St III BD—four twin-cores, stranded as a star quad bundle
GR—sheath colour grey
