Calculate cable cross-section
Use the Faber cable calculator to calculate your correct cable cross-section
You need to lay cables but are unsure of the correct cable cross-section for your application? Our cable calculator helps you to easily calculate your required cable cross-section.
All terminals have a certain resistance. That is why, depending on the cable length, there is a voltage drop which needs to be compensated by increasing the cable cross-section. To calculate your cable’s cross-sectional area, you need the cable’s operating voltage in volts, the maximum permitted voltage drop, amps and cable length. After entering your data you will receive both a fitting value for your cable cross-section and suggestions for products from our range which may be worth considering for your needs.
We support your search for the right cable
Our cable calc is just a rough guideline for assessing your required cable cross-section for copper or aluminium wires when taking load and voltage drop into account. The result by no means substitutes detailed project planning that considers all potentially necessary reduction factors according to relevant standards.
We will be happy to support you. As a competent cable manufacturer, we are happy to help if you have any questions about cable assembly or other cable topics.
The values used in our software were taken from applicable guidelines of DIN VDE 0298 Part 4 and/or DIN VDE 0276 Part 603, DIN VDE 0276 Part 1000 and DIN EN 60228. Please note that the result list includes only cables and wires from our range.
You can also use our cable calc on mobile devices! Download our new app for iOS and Android here. This ensures flexible cable calculation on the go.
