All terminals have a certain resistance. That is why, depending on the cable length, there is a voltage drop which needs to be compensated by increasing the cable cross-section. To calculate your cable’s cross-sectional area, you need the cable’s operating voltage in volts, the maximum permitted voltage drop, amps and cable length.
