The rubber single-core cable NSGAFOU is a real multi-tasker: Apart from its standards-compliant use as a machine control cable in buses and rail vehicles, it is often used in switchgear as a connecting cable. This special rubber single-core cable is, however, also utilised in other dry rooms.

NSGAFOU meaning

When choosing the cable best suited to your needs, there is a range of designations telling you about the cables’ and lines’ essential characteristics and structure. This is also the case for the rubber single-core cable NSGAFOU. Below you will find the meaning for the NSGAFOU codes:
One of the main distinctive features is the first letter, “N”, specifying that the NSGAFOU cable is a standardised line. “SG” means special rubber single-core cable. “A” indicates “wire” and the additions of “O” and “U” represent the properties “oil-resistant” and “flame-retardant”. “U” used to abbreviate the word “inflammable”.

The type code already contains a lot of relevant information about the NSGAFOU structure. The conductor temperature of 90°C ensures a high level of current carrying capacity and even guarantees short-circuit resistance for theNSGAFOU line because of its insulation thickness.
